Memorial Day Weekend 2015

Growing up, my extended family was all spread out across the country from Georgia to Washington State. We were in western Nebraska, and the point here is that we didn't have any deceased family members within reasonable driving range to visit and pay respects to on Memorial Day. Joseph's Grandparents are respectfully laid to rest outside of Williamsburg and in Emporia, and it is important to us to visit them on Memorial Day. This in addition to remembering them in the ways we continue to see them in our daily lives, character and values. We hope our children mindfully carry their heritage along with them.

We observed Memorial Day on Sunday. Joseph's parents joined us at the cemetery outside of Williamsburg where Joseph's Richeson Grandparents are buried. They continued on with us to Emporia where the Thomas Grandparents are buried. I was proud of our daughters for their respectful observance. We got to share lunch at Spangles in Emporia and THEN went to the ZOO!! So, the Emporia zoo is small, and clean, and nice, and pleasant. My girls loved it. We all loved it. It was fantastic! We even got a few nice photos!
