On our way from the train station to Frederiksborg Slot we stopped by this resturant to have another laugh over a story from a time we had in Wichita!
Tim and Katherine and the amazing castle! You can see that part of the lake is frozen...it was quite chilly!
Chilly or not, there's no day like a day in February to play in a park!! This time Joseph went on an elephant ride!
I climbed up the monkey tree! Seriously, folks...this park is fun!!
Sorry, there's not much of a seguway into the castle photos, but really with something as amazing as this place, there just can't be a smooth transition. It's stunning.
From this point, we're close but still not quite into the inner courtyard of the castle. There are a few gates to get through and each area invites the imagination to play with the scenes in history.
Here Tim is filming and Joseph is sharing all the knowledge we've acquired of Frederiksborg Slot during our time here, thus far. He's the best tour guide! And we are pretty proud to share the sights of our host country!
A photo of the mote through the side of the bridge.
There is such outstanding detail everywhere!
Tim, Katherine and Joseph outside the castle, but in the inner courtyards as we prepared to go into the castle museum.
The doors provide a leading succession as you explore the castle and all it's artifacts. This photo is a little dark, but you can see a little of the rich color on the walls, the detailed wood floors, and some of the decor.
Our reflection in one of the castle mirrors!
This photo is a good example of the lavish detail in the castle, on top of which is the grand decor and furniture.
This intricate contraption is noteworthy, to say the least! A model of the world.
A photo of the mote and bridge into the 2nd courtyard of the castle, from inside the castle!
The castle Chapel is breathtaking! Photos simply do not do it justice. There is so much detail everywhere.
Joseph and me from the outside of the castle. We really enjoy visiting this town and castle.
After visiting the castle we enjoyed a delicious Danish lunch at a local restaurant, and then headed back in to Copenhagen to do a little more exploring of the city! Close to the center of the town there is an old church with this tower attached to it. Inside the tower, visitors sprial up towards the top of the tower to get a view of the city from above.
We spiral up seven and a half times before reaching the top!
It's really simple and neat inside.
As we walk up the spiral we found that there are a few areas that jut off to display different things throughout the tower. In this area, there are columns and beams exposed showing part of the structure's design. Here, Joseph is analyzing and assessing the columns and their system of support. Taking measurements...
And making calculations!! He has an internal calculator!! Seriously, he does!
We made it to the top of the tower!!
The big dome in this photo is the marble church that we mentioned on the first day of the Franklin's visit here!
It was super super windy up on top of the tower!
This is a shot of another area of the city.
And another!
We enjoyed having the Franklins here for a visit! It was nice to see some friends from home. We're surprised that we've been here for nearly two months now! We've had much more sunshine lately than we saw the first several weeks we were here. The weather, while still quite cool, seems as though spring is not too far away! We are really looking forward to seeing the trees and city bloom with the cafes spilling out on the streets, boats moving about in the canals, and even more people out on their bikes and with the awesome baby strollers!
Until then and beyond, keep checking back here and we'll keep sharing our stories and pictures!!

Jeremy and Lisa,
Thanks for the question!!
Our answer: smørrebrød
Smørrebrød, or open-faced sandwiches, come with a variety of meats, cheeses, veggies, and mayonaisse salads on them. We have found them to be quite delicious!
We love the Question of the Week!!
Thanks Guys!
